Of all the key areas identified for action in
the Health of the Nation strategy (1992) accident prevention is especially
dependant on the contribution of a wide range of different agencies,
both statutory and non-statutory.
The idea of multi agency working is demonstrated
by different organisations included in this document. This directory
aims to provide information about the broad range of agencies involved
in accident prevention work. In addition what services they offer,
the statutory duties they hold and if they have any resources available,
together with local contacts. The Accident Prevention Directory will
be useful for those individuals who wish to liaise with other agencies
within the field of accident prevention.
The Accident Prevention Directory has been produced
by the Hertfordshire Accident Prevention Group. This group established
in April 1994 consists of senior Environmental Health staff from
all the District and Borough Councils within the County of Hertfordshire;
Road Safety Unit, Trading Standards and Health and Safety Departments
of the County Council; representatives from the Hertfordshire Health
Authorities and Hertfordshire Health Promotion. The group was established
to provide an exchange of professional advice and information on
accident prevention issues and programmes to stimulate further co-operation
and progress in Hertfordshire.
