What they can offer
Hertfordshire Trading Standards is responsible for enforcing safety
laws affecting consumer products.
This is done countywide by advising businesses, educating consumers
and traders, liaising with other agencies, investigating complaints,
advising victims of accidents, prohibiting the supply of unsafe consumer
goods, giving a limited number of free consumer checks (pushchairs
and electric blankets for example), campaigning for change, inspecting
and testing, and where appropriate prosecuting.
Where appropriate they also support 'safety' weeks such as 'Child
Safety Week' and 'Fire Safety Week'.
Statutory Duties
Enforcement of the consumer safety laws is a statutory duty for
Hertfordshire Trading Standards.
